School Technician's Conference: Code of Conduct
Statement of Intent

The School Technician's Conference is dedicated to providing a safe, inclusive, and productive environment for all participants, including IT professionals, administrators, speakers, sponsors, and volunteers. We believe that the best learning happens when everyone feels empowered to share their perspectives in an atmosphere of mutual respect. By attending this conference, you agree to abide by this Code of Conduct to help us maintain a culture of professional excellence and collaborative discovery.

Expected Behavior

To ensure a high-quality experience for everyone, all participants are expected to:

  • Engage with Integrity: Be present, professional, and prepared to contribute to the community's collective learning.
  • Respect Diverse Perspectives: Approach differences of opinion with curiosity rather than judgment. Critique ideas, not people.
  • Promote Inclusion: Be mindful of sharing the "mic" so that a variety of voices and experiences can be heard, whether in-person or in digital spaces.
  • Foster Growth: Use the summit as a platform for inquiry and professional advancement, supporting colleagues in their journey to improve educational outcomes.
  • Comply with Directions: Follow the guidance of conference organizers, venue staff, and session facilitators to ensure the event runs smoothly and safely.
Unacceptable Behavior
The following behaviors are considered a violation of this Code and will not be tolerated:
  • Harassment and Discrimination: Any form of verbal, visual, or physical conduct that is demeaning or targets individuals based on race, gender, gender identity, age, sexual orientation, disability, national origin, religion, or any other characteristic.
  • Disruptive Conduct: Sustained disruption of sessions, workshops, or networking events, including behavior that endangers the health or safety of others.
  • Unauthorized Promotion: Use of the conference platform for aggressive solicitation or the distribution of materials outside of designated sponsor/exhibitor areas.
  • Retaliation: Any attempt to intimidate or retaliate against an individual for reporting a concern or violation of this Code.
Reporting Inappropriate Conduct
If you experience or witness behavior that violates this Code, please report it immediately so that we can take appropriate action.
  • On-site: Locate a member of the conference or District leadership team or visit the Registration/Information desk.
  • Email: Contact the conference Director directly at [email protected].
  • Emergencies: If there is an immediate threat to safety, please contact local law enforcement or venue security directly.
Consequences of Violations
Conference Directors and Churchville-Chili CSD maintain a zero-tolerance policy for harassment. If a participant engages in prohibited conduct, the conference organizers reserve the right to take any action they deem appropriate, including:
  • A formal verbal warning.
  • Expulsion from the conference.
  • Notification of the participant’s employer or local authorities, if necessary.
